Old Live

Dudley Days

John Edgar (Story teller) and Dan Whitehouse (Musician)

Three creative days spent in the heart of Dudley  – community workshops where participants will write and record three new original songs inspired by Dudley landmarks and oral reminiscences.

Participants across generations will be invited to share stories, memories, and dreams for the future of Dudley – crystallising them in song and documenting the creative process on film.

Dan Whitehouse is musician in residence at Artspace, Birdcage Walk, Dudley. John Edgar’s poetry is engraved on the Dudley Fountain. John and Dan collaborated on ‘Voices From The Cones’ in 2019.

An opportunity to learn about heritage leading to change in ideas and actions, and improve our well-being through creativity and songwriting.

Details on how to take part will be announced soon.

Welcome

The first new music from my 2020 released double album (Dreamland Tomorrow) is streaming now.

Dreamland was written, recorded and mixed with John Elliott of The Little Unsaid and Tom Rose. This music was a journey of experimentation using a wider sound palette that includes the use of vintage synthesisers, strings and manipulated samples. The lyric was inspired by UK’s oldest theme park in Margate, first opened in 1880. An interesting place where warm childhood holiday memories clash with the despair and divisive nature of our current political landscape.

Welcome to Dreamland…
