40 days into 2025. How’s it going for you?
Tell me something positive you’ve done? What’s made you happy?
I began the year by sharing demos of a new collection of songs called “Only Love” on YouTube and I’ve spent my days here on Honshu Island with my head in new songs – writing and recording so much new music, whilst observing my son and the wider Japanese community here.
It’s felt liberating to share new music on YouTube, without the fanfare I have deployed with previous releases. Not that I’m anti fanfare of course, blow that trumpet when you can folks! I just personally didn’t have the blow for that sort of behaviour this time round, and with the deep and gentle nature of “Only Love” I felt it may suit the start of a snail race better: “ready, steady, slow!”
So! it’s been interesting watching the views clock up (yes of course I’ve checked) whilst flicking between screens and announcements from America that perplex and confuse. Here in Japan a truck driver and his entire truck got swallowed by a sinkhole. I can’t stop thinking about this poor soul and his journey.
